Postdoctoral Research Position in High-Performance Networking and System Software

The Computer Science Research Group (CSR) in the Computer Science and Mathematics Division, at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory has an opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of high-performance networking and system software.
Major Duties/Responsibilities
The successful candidate will carry out research and development of network communication libraries for large-scale high-performance computer systems, for message-passing (MPI), and partitioned global address space (PGAS) programming models, as well as new approaches. An emphasis will be placed on the design and implementation of collective communication operations, including design of novel and high-performing algorithms as well as their abstraction and implementation in the form of a generic library supporting multiple programming models. Other duties include general performance modeling, analysis, optimization and support of communications libraries, typically in collaboration with users of the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF). Publication of research results in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings is expected.
Qualifications Required
A Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related field
Demonstrated research experience communication middleware for high-performance computing
Background in algorithm design, system programming, and computer architecture
Strong programming and software development skills
Experience with parallel computing
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in interdisciplinary teams, crossing the traditional boundaries of computer science and computational science research
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills

Additional Qualifications Desired
Experience implementing communications libraries, particularly MPI or SHMEM
Familiarity with relevant research in resilience and fault tolerance, runtime systems, multicore and accelerator-based systems

Additional Information: Applicants cannot have received their PhD more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment. This position is a temporary, full-time assignment with an initial appointment not to exceed 24 months. Certain exceptions may be considered

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
