Auditor (Recent Graduate)

As an Auditor for the DOE OIG, you will conduct performance and financial audits; perform systematic examinations and appraisals of financial-related records, reports, management controls, and policies and practices which reflect the financial condition of DOE organizations and activities, contractors, and grantees, including state and local governments, laboratories, universities, and private industrial and business operations. You will be responsible for preparing work papers/reports to document the audit process including audit objectives and related conclusion, deficiencies, and recommendations for corrective action. You will also assist higher level auditors in determining areas of high risk to focus on during the audit, and other related assigned duties. Recent Graduate Program Eligibility:
To meet these requirements, you must have obtained a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctoral, or technical/vocational degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous two years.Preference eligible veterans who were precluded from applying due to their military service obligation begin their 2-year eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty. Eligibility for these veterans cannot exceed 6 years from the date on which the degree (or certification) was completed. In addition to the basic eligibility requirements, applicants must have the following specialized experience and/or directly related education or a combination:
(Specialized experience is paid or unpaid experience which has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position in the practical application of professional accounting and auditing principles, procedures, and techniques.)At the GS-7 applicants must have one (1) year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement or one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level. Specialized experience includes but is not limited to performing routine technical accounting assignments, and assisting to verify reports against source accounts, reconcile bank and other accounts, verify cash receipts and disbursement vouchers, verifying accuracy of computations, and preparing routine working papers.At the GS-9 applicants must have two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level. Specialized experience includes but is not limited to performing technical accounting assignments, verifying reports against source accounts, reconciling bank and other accounts, and assisting to prepare audit work papers in TeamMate, and determine that approved accounting policies and procedures are followed.The successful applicant for this position will possess the following KSAs/competencies:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
