As a GS-07, Human Resources Assistant (Processing) you will:
Analyzes in-coming work and conducts pre-processing reviews. For routine actions, applies knowledge of personnel actions processing to ensure correct nature of action coding, identification of proper appointing authorities, identification of correct legal authority code(s), position type, adherence to veteran preference laws, and general pay setting rules including selection of appropriate pay rate determinant and all action-specific remarks are present on the Request for Personnel Action (RPA). Identifies processing/data entry errors and/or trends that will be used by HR Specialists within the Processing and Information Systems Branch and SSC to identify possible training needs within the specific SSC or throughout DOE. Assists in the processing of realignment actions by ensuring the new organization are available, the correct nature of action and legal authority code are selected on the RPA, he authority for the realignment is attached to the RPA and the information is properly portrayed on the mass action worksheet. Participates as a member of working groups, SWAT teams and/or other special focus groups that have been convened to assess unusual or inter-related processing or pay/data entry problems. Assists with identification of underlying problems later be used by HR Specialists in the Processing and Information Systems Branch to arrive at options or alternatives. Participates in monthly/periodic audit of personnel actions, data entry or processing operations. As a member of the team, conducts review of actions and identifies errors; makes recommendation to higher level employees on how to correct errors. Participates in gathering lessons learned from the audit process that will later be used to identify activities such as training that might be needed to overcome unacceptable trends. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Experience initiating or adding Human Resources related information into documents, reports and/or automated personnel systems in accordance with HR processing rules and regulations. Experience performing data entry and reconciliation in an automated personnel system to process various types of personnel actions, retrieve and analyze information, generate documents, records, and/or reports. Knowledge of capabilities, operating characteristics, and advanced functions of a variety of software, e.g., HRIS used to process all types of personnel actions, spreadsheet, and word processing in order to accomplish assigned tasks in the most efficient manner possible within available technology and to devise new methods and procedures for utilizing office automation. Knowledge of, and skill in applying a comprehensive body of human resources rules, procedures, restrictions, corresponding benefits and options to process all types of personnel actions for employees serving on career, career-conditional, temporary, and limited appointments in the Federal service. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
