Human Resources Assistant

As a Human Resources Assistant, you will:
Provide clerical and technical assistance in the area of employee benefits such as Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB), Federal Group Life Insurance (FEGLI) and Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). Provide general information and guidance on issues relating to eligibility and opportunities to enroll and/or change coverage for FEHB, FEGLI and TSP. Provide basic information to employees in all aspects of retirement including optional, disability, discontinued service, early out, deferred and separation incentive, etc., and the interrelationship of each to other systems such as Office of Workers' Compensation Program (OWCP), Social Security, and TSP. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSA qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Experience initiating or adding Human Resources related information into documents, reports and/or automated personnel systems in accordance with HR processing rules and regulations; and Experience performing data entry and reconciliation in an automated personnel system to process various types of personnel actions, retrieve and analyze information, generate documents, records, and/or reports. Experience providing benefits related information both verbally and in writing to customers. Ability to interpret legislative or regulatory proposals involving broad aspects of federal employee retirement or insurance benefits programs. Knowledge of, and skill in applying, basic laws, regulations, policies and precedents of Federal employee retirement, group life insurance, health benefits, and Thrift Savings Plan programs to interpret and explain the benefits programs and assist employees regarding employee benefit problems; and research, identify, explain complicated and in-depth employee benefits-related issues such as health benefits conversion, etc. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include:
volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Time-in-Grade:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
